Baby's day out: #SoftestForBabySkin

Baby’s skin is delicate and immature. It is easily irritated, and prone to trauma and infections due to paucity of host defenses. So you need to give it a very special care and use appropriate products to keep your baby's skin as soft and flexible as a baby's bottom. But no matter what you think or do, please consult your dermatologist or pediatrician whenever you are in doubt.

Use
baby-friendly products and fabrics: Always choose hypoallergenic skin care products that are specially formulated for a baby’s skin. Harsh or dangerous chemicals may harm your baby’s skin. Remember to choose a baby-friendly detergent too because those adorable clothes will be rubbing up against your baby's skin.

Post-bath massage: Not only are massages a great way to bond with your baby, they are a great way to keep his/her skin soft too. The best time for a massage is after a bath because your baby's skin is plumped up and well hydrated so that it will holds moisture from an oil or lotion better. Take this opportunity to briefly massage your baby as he enjoys it, gently massage the baby’s entire body with your moisturizing product until it has fully penetrated the skin, or use massage oil specially designed for babies. You can warm the product with the tips of your fingers. That way, your baby will accept it more easily. Carefully moisturize your baby's entire body and face using a moisturizing cream and body lotion after every bath.Massage is very effective for relaxing your baby as preparation for sleep, so just tug him/her in a warm, cozy bed after the massage.

Protect sensitive areas:
For your baby’s lips and exposed sensitive areas, use a moisturizing stick. Remember to check the area behind your baby’s ears, armpits and perineum on a regular basis. These areas are often overlooked, but they are prone to rashes and dryness.

Protect your baby from weather: When you go out with your baby during the autumn or winter months, cover sensitive areas completely (head, nose, throat, ears, hands, etc.) with a hat, scarf, mittens and so on. You’ll protect the child against not only colds, but also the drying effects of chilly air. Also keep your baby covered in lightweight, long-sleeved clothing, and sunglasses whenever you go out in the sun.

Prevent diaper rash:
Try to change your newborn's diapers every two hours or so or as soon as it seems full, change a poop diaper immediately, clean your baby's bottom thoroughly but avoid vigorous rubbing, use a good diaper cream if your baby needs it. A little rash here and there is inevitable but consult a pediatrician if the rash is not improving. Using the softer, more comfortable varieties of diapers will keep the baby dry & happy and you pleased and tranquil.
